Childerstone Project Management was appointed to manage the refurbishment and reopening of The Black Cap, Camden, one of London’s most iconic drag and cabaret venues, following over a decade of closure.

The project involved the restoration of the public bars, cabaret space and ancillary accommodation, with a strong emphasis on preserving the building’s historic character while enhancing it for modern use. Working closely with the client and design team, Childerstone oversaw delivery of a scheme that balances contemporary refurbishment with carefully considered heritage and cultural references, ensuring the venue’s identity and legacy within Camden’s nightlife scene were celebrated and retained.

The reopening marks an important milestone in the revival of a much‑loved cultural landmark and its continued role within London’s performance and LGBTQ+ heritage.
